Haley Deshautelle (she/her) is a student midwife training with Devotion Midwifery and pursuing her Bachelor’s in Midwifery at Midwives College of Utah. She began her midwifery journey in New Mexico in 2021, training with Santa Fe Midwifery, Santa Fe Birth Center, and Changing Woman Initiative. In 2024, Haley returned home to Louisiana, moving to New Orleans to be closer to family and to answer the call for more midwives serving her community.
To date, Haley has attended and supported more than 70 births in homes and birth centers. She is passionate about helping families feel informed, empowered, respected, and deeply supported throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
For Haley, midwifery is rooted in the belief that birth matters, not only as a physical experience, but as a deeply transformative moment in the lives of individuals, families, and communities. Her purpose is to help create spaces where people feel safe enough to trust in their bodies, confident enough to make their own choices, and supported enough to move through birth with dignity and autonomy.
Haley feels especially called to help strengthen and preserve community based midwifery in Louisiana and to be part of a future where midwifery care is more accessible. She wholeheartedly believes that expanding access to midwifery care is essential to creating safer and better birth experiences and outcomes for our communities.
Outside of midwifery, Haley is happiest surrounded by the people she loves, good food, and the culture and magic of New Orleans. In her free time, she loves being outside, being active, and spending time with her friends and family.
