Leila… You beautiful, amazing midwife goddess. Our experience with you was just incredible. You worked so so hard for us to make sure we got the home birth we wanted so desperately. You never gave up on us and pushed through our 2 day long labor and delivery. From you massaging my cervix to help get things moving along further, to helping me with my cervical swelling by literally shoving ice inside me, the DEDICATION. But all jokes aside, we rocked out together while I was on my birthing stool, shoving fist fills of ice down my throat to keep me going. You finally got me to face my fears and lay on my back, with my knees to my chest, and I got that big headed, stuck baby out. With a head full of hair you were tempted to Mohawk while I was pushing. You’re wonderful. Incredible. Any woman and couple would be blessed beyond belief to have you as their midwife. I know I was.

During labor I faced a lot of unanticipated fears and Leila met me in my depths and helped me along the way. She adapted to what I needed and asked for in the moment, while still encouraging me in and respecting what my wishes had been in my prenatal care. She fiercely protected my birth space and empowered my husband to support me.

She entered our birth space so peacefully and was so respectful and calm as she helped us bring our baby boy into the world. She gave us lots of support, especially with the first latch immediately after birth. She held space for me to chat about the birth experience during our postnatal appointment.

As a mother expecting her 5th & 6th babies twins to be exact and knowing we were going in for a double beech birth at home. I couldn’t have asked for a better woman to be there holding my hand through it, telling me through it and making sure baby b Moses was in the right space to come earth-side. With a scary entrance of Moses she never once let me loose the focus and kept reminding me he’s fine and he’s there. The calmness in her voice when it was needed most is something I’ll never forget! Knowledge is power and she has it! So blessed she was apart of my twin home-birth!

Any concerns you have are met with knowledge and communication - exceeding all expectations. There’s no one else I would personally rather have on my side.

We still often joke that for my next baby, we will have to relocate to the state she is practicing in so she can be apart of our birth team, again. Leila, we love you. Thank you.

Leila was absolutely amazing throughout my pregnancy and birth. She cheered me on during my pregnancy and during birth when I just wanted to give up. Continuing to remind me that my baby was coming and that I could do it. Im so grateful I got to experience my first home birth with Leila and would definitely use her again if I could.

Seriously, she was a warrior alongside me with a slightly complicated birth, leading me through numerous spinning babies techniques so our baby girl could come down safely and naturally.

When the big day finally came, she was SUCH an integral part of shaping my birth to be a positive one. She created a calm, relaxed environment with twinkle lights and aromatherapy and helped me make informed decisions about induction, fluids, pain management, baby positioning and birthing positions

We could own our birth preferences and our birth! We also knew instinctively what to do with the unsupported birth situation. Leila was connected to me on daily basis, supporting me emotionally with any and all stresses before and after birth like a mother, a close friend, a sister.

She would say things like “Allow yourself to truly connect with yourself, your body and baby will tell you what you need.” Being that this was our first baby, giving birth seemed like a scary process, so many unknown factors but with Leila’s prenatal classes and availability to answer all our questions, when the time came both my husband and I felt confident and safe about this beautiful, joyful and intimate process God made. We were no longer scared.

She is so knowledgeable and was there every step of the way.. as a friend and as a guide through this journey. During the birth I felt so supported and safe with her.. and she helped in so many ways bring our little boy into the world. I am so grateful she came into my life and I'll always be grateful to her. She is such a giver and this is her passion.. and it shows.

She is so well educated, humble and loving and truly existed to serve me and make me as comfortable as possible from the moment we met. With every visit she left behind helpful oils, teas, tips and always did more than promised even throwing in laundry, and light house work. When it comes to labor, mine lasted 3 days- it. Was. Tough. She was with me every step of the way, staying over at my house and helping me get through a very hard night of labor and then another at the birth center.

To say I wholeheartedly recommend Devotion Doula & Yoga would be an understatement. Leila has spoken of leaving for midwifery school, and my wife and I have more than joked about following her or waiting until she comes back to have another child

Leila is the kind of person that words fail to describe how truly amazing she is, as a person and as a doula. We knew we wanted a doula for this baby, our third, as we wanted to do everything we could for the best chances at a VBA2C.

Through a long, slow induction, labor, and delivery, Leila helped us achieve our VBA2C, which I strongly believe would not have happened without her. Leila's guidance and encouragement far surpassed what the hospitalists could have provided us with, even though they were present and she was not.
